read the staging calendar
the app reads a dedicated google calendar. events that were already there when the initial sync baseline was set aren't imported.
personal mac project
google calendar → icloud, from my mac.
a small app i made to copy selected events from a google calendar into an icloud calendar. it's one-way, runs locally on a mac, and only updates the icloud events it keeps track of.
how it worksthe basics
three parts, all on one mac.
the app reads a dedicated google calendar. events that were already there when the initial sync baseline was set aren't imported.
on the mac, apple's eventkit framework creates a mapped event in the chosen icloud calendar. icloud then syncs that event to the owner's other apple devices.
the app can update events it created when the google source changes. it leaves unrelated icloud events alone and never edits or deletes google events.
the details
what the bridge does when events change.
changes move from google to icloud, not the other way around.
an icloud edit stays in place if the google event hasn't changed. a later google edit can update its mapped copy.
cancelling a google event doesn't automatically delete the icloud copy.
google grants read-only calendar-list and event permissions. those permissions cover accessible calendars, but the app processes its selected staging calendar. macOS asks for calendar access separately.
where it's at
personal test buildi've tested it with ordinary timed events and up to one supported reminder, using controlled manual runs. recurring events, all-day event writes, and unattended syncing aren't enabled yet.
small detail
this page only explains the app. the calendar permissions and sync happen in the mac application, not in your browser.
